In previous posts, we reviewed the reasons why indoor advertising is such a powerful marketing tool. Today, we take a look at five easy things you can do to design high-impact indoor advertising.
1. Make It Dynamic
While symmetry is nice, you don’t want your design to be 100% symmetric. Keep in mind that symmetry is predictable, so it may not stand out enough to grab your audience’s attention.
The best strategy is to use some symmetry to create a sense of balance, which you will contrast with more dynamic elements, such as diagonal or wavy lines.
2. Use a Clean Design
In the design industry, the term “clean” is used for a design that has few elements arranged in a way that makes them easy to read. In some cases, designs full of details may work. But as a general rule, it’s best to stick to clean designs because they help you connect faster with your audience.
3. Make Sure Your Indoor Advertising Is Easy To Read
No matter what you do, getting the basics right goes a long way, and indoor billboards are no exception to this rule. So one of the first things you want to do is ensure that your billboard is easy to read. Here are some simple ways to do that;
- Choose unadorned letters
- Use dark letters on a light background or light letters on a dark background
- Make sure the font size (the size of the letters) is large enough to be read comfortably
4. Pay Attention to the Copy of Your Indoor Billboard
In a previous section, we mentioned that clean designs are preferable. The same goes for copy, the technical name to refer to the written content of your billboard.
Crafting clean copy means getting rid of unnecessary words and remembering that verbs are particularly important because they are the core of your call to action, or CTA. A call to action is the instruction you want your audience to follow, such as “subscribe,” “buy now,” or “check out our website to learn more.”
An easy way to improve your copy (and catch typos) is to ask other people to read the content before you print it. Not everyone is an editor, but when it comes to written messages, we all have a natural sense of what works and what doesn’t.
5. Leverage Technology
Effective advertising is all about standing out. And while print indoor billboards remain extremely effective, going digital is a spectacular way to up your marketing game. Digital indoor billboards allow you to do things that were unthinkable until not so long ago such as;
- Combine video and static images
- Use full-HD video
- Day-part your adds
- Make changes on the fly
